New Tex-Mex restaurant opens with ringside seats off Dallas’ Katy Trail

A new Tex-Mex restaurant is opening with prime real estate facing Dallas’ Katy Trail, the trail that runs through Uptown and Oak Lawn. Called Tequila Social, it’s at 3100 McKinnon St. #G100, and is another concept from Harwood Hospitality Group (Dolce Riviera, Elephant East, Happiest Hour, Harwood Arms, Magnolias: Sous Le Pont, Marie Gabrielle Restaurant and Gardens, Mercat Bistro, Poco Fiasco, Saint Ann Restaurant & Bar, Te Deseo, and The Grove at Harwood).

According to a release, it’ll open on Monday July 24 with Tex-Mex, frozen drinks, an expansive patio, weekend brunch on Saturday and Sunday, and “relaxed West Texas” as its inspiration.

The menu created by Harwood Hospitality VP Taylor Kearney includes:

  • Cantina Queso made with five cheese blend, roasted chilis, pico de gallo and option to add pulled brisket
  • Empanadas made with Harwood Beef
  • Charred Harwood Beef Skirt Steak Fajitas
  • Chicken Fajitas
  • Cheese Enchiladas
  • HWD Wagyu beef cheeseburger
  • Shrimp & Avocado Salad with baby kale
  • Marinated Watermelon Salad with arugula, peanuts, avocado, pico de gallo, and tajin vinaigrette.

The beverage program includes margaritas, both frozen and on the rocks; ranch waters; Mexican-Inspired cocktails; domestic and Mexican beer; and wine by the bottle or glass. Margaritas come in many options such as Blueberry Basil Margarita, Blood Orange Coconut Margarita, Smokey Piña Margarita, and Frozen Creamsicle Margarita. There’s also Melon Ranch Water, Mexican Mule made with lime, firewater bitters, Herradura Reposado and ginger beer; Cactus Flower Agua Fresca made with Nue Vodka, St. Elder elderflower liqueur, cucumber mint agua fresca.

The space spans 10,000 square feet, with traditional Mexican inspired furniture to offer seating for 300+ guests between the indoor and outdoor areas. A dog-friendly patio has 200-plus seats, 10–plus 60-inch TVs for sporting event viewing, fire pits, social games, and live music on weekends.

Two entrances are available including the 3100 McKinnon building (entry through the 1st floor of the Parking Garage) and another directly off the Katy Trail.

“Harwood Hospitality could not be more excited to add this Social Dining Experience to the Katy Trail. Our oversized outdoor patio will be one of the best outdoor dining and socializing experiences in the DFW area,” says Harwood Hospitality COO Matt Minichino in a statement.
